Worrying signs for Chelsea as vital new signing picks up an injury on international duty

There’s never a good time or situation for an injury to occur, but this might be one of the worst for Edouard Mendy.

He’s just joined Chelsea and he’s trying to establish himself in the team, while this international break is pointless for Senegal as it’s just meaningless friendlies that nobody really cares about, so these reports will be worrying:

Describing missing games “at the very least” is never a good sign because that shows that it’s not clear how bad the injury is just now, and Chelsea could really do with Mendy recovering quickly.

He might not be the highest profile or the most exciting addition to Frank Lampard’s squad this summer, but he’s certainly the most important … Read the rest

Seven Juventus players have broken the coronavirus bubble

Juventus have been living in self-isolation after they found two coronavirus cases last Saturday.

However, Football Italia is reporting that seven of the club’s players have broken the bubble to return home or to join their national team for the international matches.

The players could face fines for leaving, but the club didn’t stop them and they will have to take responsibility individually now.

The report claims that Gianluigi Buffon and Merih Demiral had decided to leave the bubble in the team’s camp to return home on Monday.

Rodrigo Bentancur, Juan Cuadrado, Danilo, Paulo Dybala and Cristiano Ronaldo left to join their national teams for the international window.

Juventus has followed the right protocol by informing the ASL members who have relayed the information to the prosecutor’s office with the name of the defaulting players.

Video: More positive signs for Barcelona’s Griezmann as he wins the ball back and scores from distance for France

We may never really know what happened with Antoine Griezmann at Barcelona last season, but his transfer didn’t go to plan at all.

There were rumours that Diego Simeone had run him into the ground, he didn’t like being played on the left, Suarez and Messi wanted him to fail and he had injury issues, so it’s likely that multiple factors caught up with him.

He’s got a chance to start again with Ronald Koeman and it does look like he’ll be played through the middle this season, so the Barca fans will be happy to see that there are more encouraging signs around his game.

He’s struggled to find the net in La Liga but he scored for France tonight after showing some hard work to win the ball back, while that persistence was rewarded with a deflection that took it beyond the keeper:

Juventus announce their Champions League squad

Juventus has announced their Champions League squad for the 2020/21 season as they hope to win the competition again.

Having been drawn in one of the interesting groups in the competition with Barcelona as one of their opponents, the Bianconeri will hope that they can have a real shot at picking up the Champions League at the end of this season.

Juve will start their Champions League journey away to Dynamo Kyiv before taking on Barcelona and then Ferencvaros.

One of the notable thing from the list of players registered by the club is the omission of Sami Khedira whom the club has told that he needs to leave, but he is refusing to do so.

There was also room for new attacker Federico Chiesa and Merih Demiral returns as well.

Liverpool ace to secure first-team football with loan move to European giants set

According to Record, Liverpool ace Marko Grujic will join Porto on a season-long loan deal, with the Portuguese transfer window still open until October 25, as per ESPN.

Record add that the Serbian has been identified as the much-needed midfield addition following the departure of Danilo Pereira on loan to Paris Saint-Germain and Vitor Ferreira on loan to Wolves.

Grujic will find first-team football at Liverpool extremely hard to come by due to Jurgen Klopp’s world-class options in midfield, with a loan exit for the German’s first ever signing perhaps the best option.

Journalist Goncalo Lopes reports that a deal is expected to be confirmed.

French international snubs Man United with a view to Juve move

Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele is reported to have turned down a move to Manchester United this week, but is keen on a switch to Juventus in the near future.

The 23 year-old has been a household name for a few years now, despite his relatively young age, having made a huge-money move to the Camp Nou in 2017.

Dembele has since been the victim of a number of long-term injuries, and he has struggled to build up any kind of form in Spain in order to payback any of his huge fee, and is now said to be surplus to requirements at Barca.

United were believed to be an option for him on Deadline Day, but he supposedly turn down the move despite Ronald Koeman making it clear that he was not a part of his plans, and will now stay in Spain until January at the earliest.

By then his contract will have run down, and the expectation is that the Catalans will get him for nothing.

However, the loan of Jean-Clair Todibo to Benfica was supposed to pave the way for Garcia’s arrival.

Now Ronald Koeman faces the possibility of no defensive … Read the rest

Fiorentina’s Federico Chiesa will be a Juventus player by the end of today, assuming he passes the medical examinations of which he is undergoing.

The winger has been linked with the switch throughout the last week, and is now set to arrive on an initial two-year loan deal with an obligation to buy.

Juventus will pay a total of €50 Million to complete the deal at the end of the loan, with us obligated to pay the full amount should he feature for 30 minutes of at least 60% of our fixtures, or he scored 10 goals and records 10 assists during this time, … Read the rest

Man United will sign two stars tomorrow while world class winger awaits the green light to join them

There will be Man United fans wondering if it’s possible to sign an entire new squad after their horror showing today, but at least it looks like some reinforcements will be on the way.

The defence was the biggest problem today but the new signings don’t really address that, so they will be hoping that attack really is the best form of defence:

Cavani and Telles are the two names that most people will now be expecting to join the club, and they should certainly offer an improvement on what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has now.

Napoli no-show as Juventus claim all three points

Juventus will be handed a 3-0 win over Napoli after the visitors failed to turn up the Allianz Stadium tonight.

There had been much speculation around whether the tie would go ahead as scheduled after two of the Azzurri’s players threw up a positive test for COVID-19.

A number of their other players were also ordered to self-isolate having been in close contact with the duo, and the club asked for the match to be rescheduled.

Shortly after this, Serie A ordered that the match was to go ahead as planned, as following the rules and regulations set out by UEFA, which state that teams must be able to fill a squad of 13 players including one goalkeeper in order to play.

The division issued a official statement on the Lega Serie A website declaring that the postponement was not accepted, citing Turin v Atalanta, Crotone v Gerona, Genoa being … Read the rest
