“Pit Stops Gave us Victory Today.” Josef Newgarden Wins at WWTR

In the second race of the Bommarito Automotive 500, lap traffic and pit stops would be the keys to victory for Team Penske‘s Josef Newgarden, who claws back twenty points on championship leader Scott Dixon.

Like Saturday, the race start was delayed again. This time, a service vehicle pre-race dropped oil on the track, causing a major cleanup delay.

The race officially started under caution for the first two laps, on top of the pace laps, and finally went green on lap three. It was a great start for pole sitter and Saturday’s runner up Takuma Sato, who cleared second place Newgarden before turn one, and the two darted away from the pack.

Chaos behind benefited bold youngsters like Santino Ferrucci and Rinus VeeKay, who made moves stick around the outside and gaining both drivers plenty of track position. Ferrucci jumped from sixteenth to … Read the rest

Thiem: ‘Things Can Change Very Quickly’

Dominic Thiem’s return to the ATP Tour may not have gone to plan at the Western & Southern Open, but the World No. 3 is well aware of how quickly fortunes can change in tennis.

This year’s Australian Open finalist managed to win just three games in his return match against Filip Krajinovic and will enter the US Open seeking his first victory since the Rio Open presented by Claro in February.

“I know about my strength. I know things can change very quickly. I hope that I do better at the US Open,” said Thiem. “Of course, it’s a little bit weird to stay at the same courts, stay at the same place for another tournament, but I hope that I learned the right things from this match from [the Western & Southern Open] and do it better from Tuesday on.”

Thiem’s loss to Krajinovic was a disappointing result … Read the rest

Engin Cycles starts offering their own precision MTB stems for 35mm bars

Engin Cycles was started by Drew Guldalian in 2005 to make what he couldn’t find – even through his own bike shop, Wissahikon Cyclery. A similar need led to their own components including a seat collar that would provide the proper amount of torque to keep dropper posts from binding, but keep the post in […]

Dixon Gets Revenge, Wins 50th Career Race at Gateway

After a late race charge from Takuma Sato, Scott Dixon gets some semblance of revenge on the man that beat him at the Indianapolis 500 last weekend, as he won the first leg of the Bommarito Automotive 500 at World Wide Technology Raceway.

With rain looming over the 2.01 km oval, things were hectic from the start of the race. Even before the green flag chaos would ensue, triggering a six car pileup. A late start on track saw rookie Alex Palou attempt to pop out of line, which prompted Simon Pagenaud and Oliver Askew to follow him.

Askew plowed into Pagenaud as everyone checked up, triggering a domino effect sending Pagenaud into Alexander Rossi. His wasn’t the only race that was over before it began. Ed Carpenter, Marco Andretti, and Zach Veach all received terminal damage from the incident. Rossi would finish twenty second, … Read the rest

F1 expert reflects on Charles Leclerc’s major role in the rebuilding of Ferrari

Last year Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc won the Grand Prix of Spa-Francorchamps and a week later, in front of thousands of tifosi, he also won the Grand Prix of Monza. It seems to be very optimistic to think they will achieve last years perforrmance, as Ferrari will be lucky to finish fourth since the SF1000 can’t keep up with the top at all.

Rebuilding Ferrari
Charles signed a long-term contract with Ferrari at the end of last year, because he has proven himself in 2019 as the man that the team will need in the future. Ferrari will also revolve around Charles, especially now that Sebastian Vettel is leaving the racing team after this season. However, the good prospect now looks cloudy, because the Ferrari car itself is not good enough.

For Charles Leclerc it is very important to play a crucial role in rebuilding Ferrari, Mark Hughes … Read the rest

Racing Point: the FIA verdict that could change F1’s future

This is probably the most unusual season of the sport, even considering those unorthodox events that Jastina had mentioned at the end of her article. As I’m writing these lines, Racing Points has just had a 15 championship points deduction and 400,000 Euro fine for allegedly copying Mercedes 2019 rear break ducts. The plans for the parts in question had been supplied legally by Mercedes last year, back when it was ok to distribute parts and plans for parts to other teams up and down the paddock. Mercedes supply engines to Racing Point as they do at Williams too so it was perfectly acceptable to help out your customers with some parts of a Formula 1 car.

The situation

The regulations changed for 2020, saying that all teams must be constructors of their own car, this is where Racing Point have got themselves in trouble, however they are appealing … Read the rest
