2021 Olympia F1 carbon XC hardtail reshaped to shed weight, integrate & boost confidence

When Cicli Olympia first introduced its flagship F1 carbon hardtail, it was an angular race bike with holes punched through it that multiplied over time. Now dialing back the F1 to more minimalist lines, Olympia has created a much lighter mountain bike frame, shedding 200g while also getting a more technically-capable trail-inspired geometry overhaul, and […]

Wolff on Hamilton’s Eifel GP Victory: “An amazing thing to witness and a fantastic drive by Lewis”

Toto Wolff says Lewis Hamilton’s record-equalling ninety-first career victory is an ‘incredible’ achievement, with the Briton now equalling the number of wins set by Michael Schumacher after taking the chequered flag first at the Nürburgring on Sunday.

Wolff, the Head of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport and the Team Principal of the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team, says he remembered watching Schumacher’s career and winning all those races in the 1990’s and 2000’s.  His victories came with the Benetton F1 Team between 1992 and 1995, with the rest of his wins coming between 1996 and 2006 with Scuderia Ferrari.

Schumacher also raced for Mercedes between 2010 and 2012, although his return to the sport after a three-year hiatus saw him take only one podium finish and one pole position.

“Congratulations to Lewis on the victory today and for equalling Michael’s record for most F1 wins,” said Wolff.  “It’s Read the rest

Former Ferrari boss on Hamilton matching Schumacher’s win record

Lewis Hamilton’s victory at the Nurburgring moved him onto 91 career wins – level with all-time record holder and seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher. Former Ferrari technical director and current Formula 1 Managing Director, Motorsport, Ross Brawn discusses the key talking points…

“Lewis drove an exemplary race in style, which has earned him an equal number of race wins to Michael Schumacher. It’s a remarkable achievement.

Michael always said that records are there to be broken, but I admit I didn’t expect to see this one broken so soon. And I can’t imagine Lewis is going to stop here. The way he’s going, he will raise the bar in the next few years to a level that will be astonishing.

His race today was relatively efficient and effective, almost methodical, though I know from the perspective of the pit wall and inside the cockpit, it would have been anything but … Read the rest

Chase Elliott’s road course reign continues with Roval rout

It is no secret that Chase Elliott knows his way around road courses, and Sunday’s Bank of America Roval 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway was further evidence of that. With a strong final stage performance, he took his fourth consecutive NASCAR Cup Series victory on such layouts.

Last week’s winner Denny Hamlin started on the pole ahead of Elliott. While nobody was sent to the rear for failing inspection, Josh Bilicki started at the back after replacing Joey Gase in the #51 and Erik Jones dropped back for unapproved adjustments.

In the playoff picture, only Kurt Busch (Vegas win) and Hamlin entered the race locked into the Round of 8. Below the cut-off line were Kyle Busch (–21 points), Austin Dillon (–21), Clint Bowyer (–38), and Aric Almirola (–48).

Ferrari confirms “updates going in the right direction” after Nurburgring race

Scuderia Ferrari leaves Germany’s Nürburgring circuit with a seven and eleventh place in the maiden Eifel Grand Prix, courtesy of Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel respectively. The SF1000 was not as competitive in the race as it had been in qualifying, especially with Charles who was soon struggling on the Soft tyres, so that he came in to get rid of them on lap 10.

Mattia Binotto Team Principal
“It was a tough race today, mainly down to getting the tyre temperatures into the right operating window. That was particularly the case with Charles who, after a good start, began to suffer with graining on the Softs, right from the first few laps, which meant he was unable to push as hard as he would have liked. We therefore had to pit him earlier than planned, immediately switching him to another strategy. Then, in the closing stages, when it would … Read the rest

Djokovic: ‘He Played A Perfect Match’

Novak Djokovic entered the Roland Garros final against Rafael Nadal with a wealth of experience and form, having beaten the Spaniard in 14 of their most recent 18 ATP Head2Head matches. But despite all his past success against the five-time year-end World No. 1 and his 37-1 record this year heading into the final, he could not match Nadal’s level on Court Phillipe-Chatrier.

“He’s phenomenal,” said Djokovic. “He played a perfect match, especially in the first two sets. The third set I managed to come back. I found my groove on the court. Then [there were a] couple of close games. [I] had my chances, didn’t use them. He closed out the match. That’s it. He was the far better player on the court today and absolutely deserved to win.”

Nadal charged through the opening two sets with the loss of just two games and held off a late comeback … Read the rest
